About
Neelakandan
"In every wild moment and mindful choice, there is a story worth designing."
Anil, known to many as Neelakandan is an award-winning wildlife photographer and UX leader whose work is shaped by patience, observation, and a deep respect for the natural world. His photography goes beyond capturing striking moments in the wild; it reflects a conservation mindset and a commitment to telling meaningful stories that bring people closer to nature.
His work has been recognised with the Kerala State Award in 2009 and the Kerala Lalithakala Academy Award in 2012. In 2012, he presented his solo exhibition, Wild Ghats, inspired by the landscapes and biodiversity of the Western Ghats. His journey in the field has also included wildlife research on the Great Indian Hornbill and the Nilgiri Marten, adding depth and scientific curiosity to his photographic practice. His work has been featured in several national and international journals and magazines.

Alongside photography, Neelakandan has built a strong career in UX leadership, where he has spent years shaping products, teams, and design strategy. That background influences the way he sees and frames the world—with empathy, structure, clarity, and attention to detail. The same discipline that defines his design work also defines his time in the wild: waiting carefully, observing deeply, and capturing moments with intent.
